AUDITIONS
Auditions are via VHS Video Tape or DVD only. No live auditions are available. You are required to perform 3 contrasting jazz standards demonstrating your ability to play the melody, improvise and comp. You must also prepare a written solo piece for the audition.

For an audition tape we just need you to play a head (melody of tune) and then solo on the changes to a jazz standard for a couple of chorus (repeats of the form). You could record the changes and then play over that as a backing track or you can use a Jamey Aebersold http://www.aebersold.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc type of recording as a backing track.

You can get the standards from The Real Book

Some recommended standards would be

Alone Together

Blues for Alice
Confirmation
